Summer learning programs provide a unique opportunity for international high school and undergraduate students to experience what life on a college campus in the US is like, while also gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge subject areas. Explore beautiful California, make lasting connections with students and faculty, and develop in-demand skills that set a strong foundation for both your studies and future career. 

This summer, Shorelight is offering two experiential learning programs for high-achieving students.


Applied AI in Engineering Summer Institute at UC Berkeley

This two-week program offers an immersive campus experience for undergraduate students with an interest in the future of applied artificial intelligence and innovation in engineering. Students will engage with expert faculty from the Berkeley College of Engineering, participating in lectures, social events, and more. Off-campus, discovery continues with visits to leading tech companies, cultural excursions, and activities around the Bay Area.

  • Entry Requirements

    • Age: Students must be between the ages of 18 - 25 and currently enrolled in an undergraduate program

    • English Proficiency Requirement: IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 80, or equivalent

  • Session Dates: There will be two program sessions for students to choose from. Availability in a student’s preferred session is not guaranteed.

    • Session 1: July 07, 2024 - July 20, 2024

    • Session 2: July 21, 2024 - August 03, 2024

Summer Exploration Programs at University of the Pacific 

These two-week programs introduce high school students to life on a US university campus, where they will explore academic and career paths. Students will select a topic of their choice from five categories: Athletics, Business and Society, Engineering, Science, and Performing and Visual Art and participate in interactive workshops and engage with faculty in a small, personalized environment. In addition, students will take part in activities and events on campus while experiencing the best of California through local excursions.

  • Registration Requirements

    • AgeStudents must be 16 years or older and be entering grades 9 to 12 in Fall 2024

    • English Proficiency: IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 35, or equivalent 

  • Session Dates

    • Session 1: June 1, 2024 - June 14, 2024

    • Session 2: June 17, 2024 - June 29, 2024
