BOSTON, Mass. (June 17, 2016) – Shorelight announced the signing of an agreement with the University of the Pacific to develop UOP International™, an innovative program that fosters the development and success of international students.

“Shorelight is proud to build a program with University of the Pacific that will offer international students a transformative experience at a nationally ranked university in California,” said Tom Dretler, CEO of Shorelight.

UOP International will broaden educational opportunities for students from across the globe looking to study at a premier institution in California. The development and implementation of the program complement the university’s dedication to student-centered learning experiences and commitment to a dynamic cultural environment.

“University of the Pacific is deeply committed to a personal, student-centered approach to learning,” said J. Michael Thompson, vice provost for enrollment management at University of the Pacific. “Our collaboration with Shorelight is one of the many ways we are able to stay at the forefront of higher education.”

Designed specifically to meet the needs of international students, UOP International™ offers an International Accelerator Program that provides students with academic, social, and professional development opportunities, in addition to social and cultural activities to integrate international students into campus life. Aligning with the vision of University of the Pacific, UOP International will provide a superior experience to help students succeed.

“UOP International builds on Pacific’s existing commitment to intimate, community-focused programs. Through highly ranked academics and personalized support, students will be prepared for professional and personal success upon graduation,” Dretler said.

With a focus on student retention and success, UOP International will provide a dedicated team of support staff and enrollment management services, ensuring a smooth transition and integration for students coming to Pacific from diverse geographic areas and academic backgrounds. The program will build on existing infrastructure within the university to grow international student enrollment, support international students’ transition to a US academic environment and expand Pacific’s global brand.

Pacific will welcome its first UOP International students in spring 2017.
