Dear family and friends,

During these unprecedented times, please know that the safety and well-being of our students remains our top priority. Our campus teams are working diligently to ensure that students feel supported and remain connected to staff members and the resources they need to succeed academically, in order to finish the semester strong.

Academic instruction and support continue through remote delivery. Students can attend virtual tutoring sessions offered through traditional university offices as well as through Shorelight’s supportive team members.

Students have also been encouraged to continue meeting with their Student Services Advisors through a virtual meeting platform called Zoom. Our student Services Advisors continue to introduce new, innovative ways for students to remain connected during a time when they may feel isolated or lonely, through student “town halls”, daily question and answer sessions, and virtual social events. These opportunities reinforce a sense of community, bringing students together to discuss academics and how they are coping with changes to their daily routines.

Our campus teams are also working diligently to ensure that students have access to basic items they need during this time. One way our campus teams have accomplished this is by delivering personalized packages directly to students’ residences. These care packages were left outside each apartment, and included cleaning products, paper towels, soap, a few comfort items, and a note from their campus team.

Campus teams are encouraging continued close communication with students through weekly newsletters that reiterate university updates, share opportunities for additional support services, and foster connectivity.

With each passing day, we are inspired by our students’ resilience and determination. We ensure youthat we are wholeheartedly committed to our students, and we will work tirelessly to do all that we can to meet the unique set of needs that students may have during this time.

Warm regards,

Tom Dretler
