UIC Global is an academic preparedness program that combines English language instruction and support with academic instruction and acculturation for incoming international students. Job Overview

The Assistant Director of Admissions is an energetic, detail-oriented individual who supports admissions, marketing, and international student services. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director of Admissions ensures the delivery of high-quality customer service to Shorelight’s partners, offshore sales teams, and prospective and enrolled UIC Global students. The position requires a positive, can-do attitude; expert attention to detail; and strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the submitted application flow for undergraduate UIC Global applicants
  • Assist in reviewing applications, transcripts, and other documents required for international student admissions, including identifying and investigating transcript and application discrepancies
  • Manage data coordination, including entering qualified applicants into the university’s database system
  • Manage communication between HQ admissions, UIC admissions staff, and other relevant departments
  • Develop and oversee enrollment management reports such as funnel reports that track incoming student cohorts
  • Assist with the implementation and procedural development of new student programs
  • Contribute to and refine best practices for admissions and I-20 production for UIC Global
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders from UIC and Shorelight to consider and implement new initiatives
  • Coordinate I-20 process with UIC Office of International Services staff, including managing the shipment of I-20 student packets to field agents
  • Work closely with staff in UIC admissions units and I-20 production roles
  • Work with students and UIC staff to collect and track official transcripts
  • Respond to email and phone inquiries
  • Assist campus coordination of recruitment trips/familiarization tours and other related recruitment activities
  • Serve as a resource for Admissions Officers based overseas, HQ, and other partnerships
  • Promote good relations with staff, recruiters, institutions, and students
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, international education, or related field
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of work experience in higher education, international education, or related field
  • Previous experience with Salesforce software and/or previous admissions experience preferred
  • Knowledge of international student services within a higher education setting
  • Exemplary customer service, presentation, and public speaking skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity toward students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative, perform multiple assignments, and complete projects in a timely manner
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs and databases
  • Ability to formulate, implement, and evaluate strategies and policies based on a broad view of issues and events with an understanding of their long-term impact or wider implications
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate and accomplish work goals 
  • Ability to demonstrate sound business acumen and meet performance targets
  • Eligibility to work in and travel freely to and from the United States without sponsorship
